This exquisite early bicycle wrench is marked with the inscription "BILLINGS & SPENCER CO. HARTFORD, CONN. C.E. BILLINGS PAT'D FEB. 18TH 1879." It is in remarkable condition, showcasing crisp, clear lettering that reflects its craftsmanship. The inside bar features a precise 1/32-inch scale, allowing users to see the size to which the jaws open.

The wrench is free from rust and damage, with only some slight wear along the edges of the jaws. Notably, it is one of the rare 4-inch wrenches I have come across that boasts perfectly parallel jaws, a testament to its quality and design.

Manufactured by the innovative Charles Ethan Billings, who was a pioneer in drop forging technology, this adjustable wrench is not only functional but also a beautiful piece of history.

This antique adjustable wrench, proudly bearing the Billings & Spencer Co. name, measures 4 inches and holds the prestigious patent awarded to C.E. Billings on February 18, 1878.
